Crystal Wong, BA — Advanced Clinical Intern

  • Meet Crystal.

Crystal Wong (she/her) is currently pursuing her master's degree in mental health counseling at Hunter College. Previously, she spent over a decade leading design teams focused on user experience in a fast-paced consulting environment, where she discovered her passion for understanding human behavior and relationship-building. Her experience taught her the importance of managing burnout and living a life aligned to one’s values. This led her to shift to counseling as a new career path.

As a second-generation child of immigrants and longtime caregiver, Crystal believes that every individual has innate resilience and capacity for growth in navigating life’s challenges and transitions – sometimes we just need additional help to connect with those strengths. Her therapeutic approach is grounded in building trusting, collaborative relationships that enable clients to thrive.

Crystal's emerging theoretical orientation centers on integrative theory. Taking an empathic, client-centered approach, she draws from both psychodynamic and person-centered theories to help clients uncover blockers, develop greater self-awareness, and live more fulfilling lives. She integrates behavioral and cognitive strategies to support her clients in developing new skills where beneficial. Crystal considers herself a lifelong learner, and applies that curiosity in helping clients across all stages of life.
