Individual Therapy
Your therapy experience will be as unique as you are, and it will be one that you build collaboratively with your therapist. We believe that therapeutic success depends just as much on the quality of our relationship as on the particular strategies we employ. Our work is grounded in relational psychodynamic and client-centered theory — in short, we believe that our working relationship can bring to light the themes and values most important to you while we work towards healing and change. We may incorporate mindfulness techniques and principles from cognitive behavioral and experiential and body-based therapies as well, to offer symptom relief and to facilitate getting unstuck from entrenched patterns.
We offer in-person and telehealth sessions to adults of all ages as well as adolescents (11 and up).
Couple + Family Therapy
Deciding to come to therapy together is one of the most important steps a couple or family unit can take towards transformative change. Being able to work with a whole system in therapy — rather than just with one individual within that system — allows the family unit to access untapped strengths and resources and to facilitate mutual healing. Whether you are looking to build intimacy in your relationship or family dynamic or need help working through old patterns, our work will help you connect with your innate emotional wisdom to strengthen compassion for yourself and your loved ones and promote mutual understanding.
Dr. Suzuki welcomes couple and family clients. She previously taught an integrative model of family and couple work, drawing on systems theory, Gottman skills work, and emotion-focused and experiential models of healing to advanced doctoral students in psychology at Teachers College, Columbia University. Johnson and Tien also provides couples therapy.
Group Therapy
Group therapy offers a unique opportunity to connect with others who share similar challenges, creating a supportive environment where healing and growth can flourish. In a group setting, you gain the benefit of diverse perspectives and shared experiences, helping you feel understood and less isolated. The group therapist facilitates the creation of a safe and respectful environment in which participants can connect and experience a healthy mix of support and challenge.
Through active listening and constructive feedback, participants learn new coping strategies, enhance communication skills, and build resilience. The group dynamic encourages self-reflection and can lead to profound personal insights, as you observe and engage with others on their journeys toward healing.
Group therapy is a powerful, cost-effective way to receive therapy while gaining the added benefit of connection and support from others who truly understand your struggles. It can be the perfect complement to individual therapy, providing an enriching, collaborative space for growth.
