Jessica Suzuki, Ph.D. — Founder and Clinical Director

  • Meet Jessi.

Dr. Jessica Suzuki (she/her) is a licensed Clinical Psychologist who has studied and practiced throughout New York City. She completed her undergraduate degree at Yale University and later received her Ph.D. from Teachers College, Columbia University, with a research focus on the manifestations and effects of positive regard in the therapy relationship. Jessi trained at hospitals throughout NYC, including Mount Sinai, Beth Israel, and the Manhattan VA. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship in student mental health at Columbia's Counseling and Psychological Services and worked as a staff psychologist at NYU's Counseling and Wellness Services. She previously served on the faculty at Teachers College, Columbia University, teaching family and couples therapy to advanced doctoral students. Before beginning her career in clinical psychology, she worked in the music industry and then as a middle and high school teacher in both public and private settings.

Jessi’s personal background also informs how she sees the world and works with her clients. The identities she holds — as a woman of color from a biracial/bicultural background, the daughter of an immigrant, a former teacher/career changer, a caregiver to an aging parent, and a parent herself — all inform and enrich her clinical work.

Jessi’s therapeutic style is calm, direct, and client-centered. She works collaboratively and responsively to clients’ presenting concerns and needs and strives to create a treatment relationship that feels safe and authentic for all participants. She enjoys integrating a diverse range of psychotherapeutic approaches to meet her clients where they are.
